Put your Seestar in EQ mode for longer, sharper exposures
Why we like the TH10 and TC20 kit:
- No more field rotation: in its normal alt-az mode, a Seestar's image slowly rotates during a long session, which crops the edges of your stacked picture. Tilted to your latitude on the TH10 head, the Seestar tracks like an equatorial mount, so the whole frame stays usable and you can stack for hours.
- Required for EQ mode on the S30 Pro: ZWO's EQ mode on the Seestar S30 Pro needs the TH10 head.
- Light and tiny: the head weighs 411g and the carbon fiber tripod about 600g, and the tripod folds to just 265mm (10.4"), so the whole kit fits in a backpack beside your Seestar.
- Smooth adjustment: the fluid (hydraulic) damping and printed scales make it easy to set your latitude and point the Seestar north.
The ZWO Seestar TH10 Fluid Head and TC20 Carbon Fiber Tripod kit is ZWO's equatorial setup for Seestar smart telescopes. The TH10 is a compact aluminum fluid head that tilts from -90° to +90° and pans 360°, so you can tip a Seestar to your latitude and switch to EQ mode in the app. The TC20 is a short, stiff carbon fiber tripod with a 30kg rating. Together they weigh about 1kg (2.2lb), and the head also works with cameras up to 5kg (11lb).
Key specs: TH10 fluid head, 411g, 5kg (11lb) load · tilt -90° to +90°, 360° pan · 1/4" screw with 3/8" adapter, 3/8" base thread · TC20 carbon fiber tripod, about 600g, 30kg rating · height 235-365mm · folds to 265mm

What EQ mode does for your images
- Longer sessions without cropping: stack an hour or more on the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy or the Heart Nebula and keep the full field.
- Cleaner edges: no rotated, ragged borders on your stacked images.
- Better framing of large targets: keep big objects like the North America Nebula centered through a long session.
How to set it up
- Open the TC20 tripod on a flat surface with one leg pointing roughly north, and center the bubble level.
- Screw the 1/4" to 3/8" adapter into the bottom of your Seestar and tighten it with the coin wrench, then attach the quick release plate.
- Mount the TH10 on the tripod with its dovetail groove facing north, in line with the north-facing leg.
- Slide the Seestar onto the head, set the tilt scale to your latitude (about 40° here in Denver), then switch to EQ mode in the Seestar app.
Note: ZWO doesn't recommend the TC20 with a Seestar S50 in EQ mode below 15° latitude, because the S50 can hit the tripod legs at some angles. That doesn't affect anyone in the continental US.
What to add for the best results
- ZWO Seestar S30 Pro (required if you don't own a Seestar yet): this kit is how you unlock its EQ mode.
- Precision tripod leveler: fine leveling under the head without adjusting the tripod legs.
- TH10 fluid head on its own: if you already have a TC20 tripod (it comes with the original Seestar S50), the head is all you need.

Seestar TH10 and TC20 kit FAQ
Which Seestar models does it work with?
ZWO designed the TH10 for running the Seestar S30, S30 Pro and S50 in EQ mode, and we also sell it in our S50 Pro EQ bundle. It also fits cameras and camcorders with a 1/4" or 3/8" thread.
Do I need EQ mode?
Not for quick looks or short sessions. EQ mode matters when you stack a target for an hour or more, because it stops the field rotation that crops the edges of alt-az images.
I have a Seestar S50. Which do I need?
The original S50 came with a TC20 tripod, so the TH10 head alone is enough. This kit makes sense if you want a second tripod that stays set up for EQ mode.
Is it hard to polar align?
No. Point one tripod leg and the head's dovetail north, set the tilt to your latitude using the printed scale, then switch the Seestar app to EQ mode.
Can I use it with a camera?
Yes. The TH10 is a standard fluid video head with a 5kg (11lb) rating and a 1/4" quick release plate, so it works with DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and camcorders.
