120 watts of steady 12V for a full imaging rig
Why we like the ZWO 12V 10A adapter:
- Room for everything: 10A at 12V is 120W. ZWO's own example rig (AM5 mount, cooled camera, guide camera, focuser, filter wheel and ASIAIR Plus) peaks at about 90W, which leaves headroom for dew heaters.
- The right plug: 5.5 × 2.1mm, the connector ZWO uses on its cooled cameras, AM-series mounts and ASIAIR.
- One supply instead of several: feed an ASIAIR Plus and let its 12V outputs power the camera, mount and other gear.
- Worth knowing: this runs from a wall outlet, at home or in an observatory. For a dark site without power, use a battery such as the Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro. If you only power a camera or an ASIAIR, the smaller ZWO 12V 5A adapter is enough.
The ZWO 12V 10A AC to DC Adapter (US) is ZWO's high-current power supply for its cooled cameras, harmonic mounts and ASIAIR controllers. It takes 100–240V AC and gives a steady 12V DC at up to 10A through a 5.5 × 2.1mm plug. This is the US version, with a detachable three-prong cord for North American outlets.
Key specs: 12V DC, 10A, 120W output · 100–240V AC, 50/60Hz input · 5.5 × 2.1mm DC plug · detachable US three-prong AC cord · for ZWO cooled cameras, AM-series mounts and ASIAIR

What it can power
ZWO's power table gives these maximum draws for a typical rig:
- AM5 mount: 12V, 1.7A
- Cooled main camera (ASI294MC Pro) with the cooler running: 12V, 3A
- ASIAIR Plus controller: 12V, 2A
- Guide camera, focuser and filter wheel: 5V, 2A combined, powered over USB from the ASIAIR
- Total: about 90W at peak, well within this adapter's 120W
Most of the time the draw is much lower, because the camera's cooler and the mount's motors run hardest only now and then.

How to set it up
The simplest way is to plug the adapter into the ASIAIR Plus's 12V input, then run short DC cables from the ASIAIR's 12V outputs to the camera and mount. That keeps one power cable running down to the ground. You can also plug it straight into a single cooled camera or mount.
What to add for the best results
- ZWO ASIAIR Plus: shares this adapter's power with the rest of the rig.
- A cooled camera: the ASI2600MC Pro or ASI533MC Pro, which draw up to 3A with the cooler running.
- A ZWO mount: the AM5N or AM3N.
- Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro: for nights away from an outlet.

ZWO 12V 10A Adapter FAQ
10A or 5A: which do I need?
If one adapter will run a mount, a cooled camera and an ASIAIR together, choose the 10A. If it will power just one cooled camera or a lightly loaded ASIAIR, the 5A is enough.
Will it power my ZWO AM5 or AM3?
Yes. ZWO's harmonic mounts take 12V through a 5.5 × 2.1mm plug, and ZWO lists the AM5 at 1.7A peak, well within this adapter's 10A.
Can I use it outside the US?
The adapter accepts 100–240V, but this version comes with a US cord. ZWO makes EUR, GB and CN versions with their own cords.
Can I use it in the field?
Only where there's an outlet or generator. For a remote site, use a 12V battery such as the Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro.
