The Telrad is a favorite of amateur astronomers.
The pulser is an add-on accessory that improves contrast by pulsing the reticle image on and off thus aiding in locating faint objects.
I installed the pulser kit yesterday. It's easy to drill through the plastic telrad case but inserting the electronics was difficult because of the tight space to work with. In addition, the threads do not extend far enough through the plastic case to tightly secure the supplied nut. The thin washer that also comes with the kit cannot be used at all. I'm thinking about using some Locktite to better secure the nut on the few threads sticking through the plastic case. Once you have added the electronic assembly, the battery holder barely fits in the available space. So, adding the pulser is a challenge but it does work! Pulsing can be adjusted from solid (on) to slow pulse to very fast pulse. The primary on/off/brightness switch still operates so you have a broad range of options from bright blinking to less bright blinking. I live in an area with enough light pollution that the non-blinking Telrad sight makes if difficult to see the dim sky. I'm looking forward to working with the pulser to eliminate the problem of sighting with dim stars.
Telrad needs to offer their sight with and without the pulser option pre installed. It's unusual these days to ask a consumer to drill some holes, and splice some wires together. It's not hard but it's not like a pre manufactured solution.
